Honors and Distinctions in 2020

Christian Berndt, Full Professor at the Department of Geography was made Honorary Professor at the University of Nottingham.

Camillo De Lellis, Full Professor at the Department of Mathematics, received the Bôcher Memorial Prize from the American Mathematical Society, together with Lawrence Guth and Laure Saint-Raymond. The Bôcher Memorial Prize is a prestigious recognition awarded every three years for a remarkable paper presented at a meeting of experts within the last six years.

Karl Gademann, Full Professor at the Department of Chemistry, has been named a Fellow of Chemistry Europe for his exceptional achievements, outstanding support and service to national chemical societies.

Ravit Helled, Associate Professor at the Institute of Computational Sciences, was elected by the Swiss National Science Foundation to the Research Council of the Department of Mathematics, Natural and Environmental Sciences, effective January 1, 2021.

Hanna Maaria Kokko, Full Professor at the Institute of Evolutionary Biology and Environmental Sciences, was inducted into the American Academy of Arts and Sciences.

Barbara König, Emeritus Full Professor at the Institute of Evolutionary Biology and Environmental Sciences was elected by the Swiss Academy of Sciences (SCNAT) to the Board of Directors effective January 1, 2021.

Corinna Ulcigrai, Full Professor in the Department of Mathematics, received the Michael Brin Prize in Dynamical Systems from Pennsylvania State University for her fundamental work on the ergodic theory of locally Hamiltonian flows on surfaces, translational flows on periodic surfaces, and wind-tree models, and her seminal work on higher genus generalizations of Markov and Lagrange spectra.

Rüdiger Wehner, Emeritus Full Professor at the Zoological Institute and Brain Research Institute, was appointed Fellow of the Royal Institute of Navigation, London.

Rudolf Aebersold, Emeritus Full Professor at the Institute of Molecular Systems Biology ETHZ received the Swiss Science Award Marcel Benoist from the Marcel Benoist Foundation for his pioneering work in systems biology.
