Golden mystery of the Kalahari
Yellow mongoose (Cynictis penicillata), members of the mongoose family alongside meerkats (Suricata suricatta), are one of the many incredible species studied at the Kalahari Research Centre (KRC) in South Africa. From their social systems to their communicative and cognitive abilities, they are full of wonder and intrigue, and it is no wonder that they are such a huge focus of study by research groups at the University of Zurich and beyond. Currently, yellow mongoose are a study species within Prof. Marta Manser’s Animal Behaviour group, including within the Mongoose Cognition Project led by Ambizione Group Leader, Dr. Sofia Forss.by Zoe Turner
